Regarde le ciel...look at the sky. I've seen this quote all over Paris.....on doors, roads, walls.
So....I followed the suggestion and looked up to see the sky.....and this is what I saw.

I had to overcome my vertigo to take this...Place de la Concorde. |

On the way to get my Carté de Sejour from the Commissariat....
now, that's another (very long) story!
We're up to Trip/Hoop 3..... |

The most fantastic tromp l'oeile on Theatre St George (just around the corner from Pierre and moi)...
look at the windows, clouds, shutters, balconies and wall decoration.....
I only recently realised that they weren't the real thing. |

I'll try to find out who painted this trompe l'oeile...

After the Petit Palais, we dashed over the road
to the Mini Palais for lunch....
love those columns on the terrace. |
Voila! It's certainly worthwhile looking up to see the sky. You never know what you'll spy.
I'll be looking at the Belgium sky next week as we're off to Antwerp for a few days. It's a beautiful city...with lots of gorgeous chocolate and fashion...what more can a girl ask for!
A bientôt.

Maybe some diamonds Robyn??? You and Pierre will have a ball. Antwerp's noted as a jewel, for design, galleries etc, I believe. Also lots of "a girl's best friend".
ReplyDeleteOui, le trompe lóeile et tres extraordinaire!! The sky is gorgeous here today!! A beautiful winter's day. Jude
Oh I would love to see that beautiful Aussi winter sky Jude....let's hope Paris has a bright blue sky today. A bientot.

PS. if they could charge us for our aussie sky they would !!!! Lili
ReplyDeleteMerci beaucoup Lili....yes...wandering up and down an unknown rue.....always uncovers a hidden treasure (or 2). Enjoy that Aussie sky!!
DeleteYour photos are wonderful. I particularly liked the trompe l'oeile! I really had to study it to confirm it wasn't true - genius. Thank for visiting me and sharing your wonderful Paris views, I always feel you miss so much if you don't look up in Paris!

Hello Robyn,
ReplyDeleteI'm back again. I've spent most of the afternoon reading your entire blog, start to finish (so far-much more to come I hope). What a marvellous decision you made and, as you said, we're only here once, make the most of it!
I loved your photos of Skye. We visited Scotland ourselves at the end of last year, it's wonderful. I have enjoyed seeing your creativity and artistic talent and look forward to following your Parisian adventures. Who knows, we may meet up for a coffee there some time as we regularly visit Paris. I have added you to my blogroll so I don't miss any future posts. Consider me your newest British stalker :-)

Oh fantastic Di...what a pleasure to have you as my new British stalker...I'm your new Aussi/Parisian stalker!!! And I would really love to meet for a cafe....when are you coming to Paris next?
DeleteOh, Marvelous pix, Robyn!! Of course, you know, when you're looking UP all the time you increase your risk of stepping in the "PompeyDooDoo", as we call it!!!! Dean and I do agree that there is so much to "look up" at in Paris!! Last fall we took one of those Open Bus Tours around for two days and saw so much of the "upper parts" that we had never seen. I highly recommend those tours. I do love the Montparnasse area, and will try to get over there on our upcoming trip. Can you tell me the name of that street with the wonderful mural?
ReplyDeleteExcited to hear you're getting your Catre de Sejour! want to hear all about that!
xx
dawne
Yes...that dreaded "PompeyDooDoo"...so far I've been lucky Dawne. I'll email the name of that street...will have to check my street map....and when you visit, I'll tell you all about mon Carte de Sejour. I do love a good game with administration madness!!
DeleteHi Dawne....the street is rue de la Gaite...when you come out of Edgar Quinet Metro, facing Tour Montparnasse, look to your left and voila!
DeleteLet me know if you feel like meeting up for a coffee while you're here. I'm based in Antwerp these days. And if you want or need to know anything ... just ask :-)
ReplyDeleteDi...it would be mon plaisir...I'll email you. A bientot.
DeleteOkay, see you soon :-)
DeleteRegarde le ciel...look at the sky such a magical saying. The tromp l'oeile is amazing! Adored all your shots. xxpeggybraswelldesign.com
ReplyDeleteTheatre St Georges' trompe l'oeile is really something Peggy. It took me weeks to realise the windows weren't real!!!
DeleteGorgeous Paris! Enjoy Antwerp.
ReplyDeleteWe're off bright and early tomorrow morning Debra. Hoping to get to the Fashion Museum et al.
DeleteHow fabulous your photographs are... and how often we forget to look upwards... the perfect reminder... xv
ReplyDeleteMerci beaucoup Vicki...and yes, I often have to remind myself to take a breath, go slow, and look up....
DeleteWe do not look up nearly enough to admire all the incredible archtechture and art floating above our head in cities, always in a rush and avoiding traffic hurtling towards us, these spaces are almost secret cities waiting to be found!
ReplyDeletePaul
I think the trick Paul is to go just a little slower. It's incredible what's up there!
Deletelove this! i saw that everywhere in paris. i wonder if it was just one person or many people.
ReplyDeleteit's a very beautiful city
we just need to be reminded to look up once in a while
