Jardins...the Bold, the Beautiful and the Romantic (1)

There seems to be an incredible number of gardens and parks in Paris...some grand and royal, some small and hidden....and to date I've certainly seen a selection of the bold, beautiful and romantic gardens of Paris.

It'll also be lovely to see them in the seasons ahead....to watch their changes in Autumn and Winter....in fact, some of the foliage is already starting to change....with little glimpses of yellow and russet foliage on some of the trees.

But les jardins de Paris are looking spectacular now.....in all their full-blown Summer glory....and, in the next few posts, I'd like to show you some of my favourite jardins in Paris.

Would love to know your favourites too....so if you know of any secret gardens (that you want to share with me) feel free!

1.  Rodin's Garden at the Rodin Musée....a romantic garden filled with Rodin's sculptures, roses and beautifully clipped topiaries, hedges and arches.....and of course, that very famous sculpture, The Thinker sits in a central location of the garden for all to admire.  The first time you see it, it really is an OMG moment!
2. Jardins Albert-Kahn......quite a 'secret' garden I think.....my sister-in-law, JT, told me about it and I'm so pleased she did.  (Merci beaucoup JT!!)  It's an exquisite garden....actually it's a series of different gardens....francais, japonais, anglais, forte bleue.....and just glorious.  Pierre and I had a very long, leisurely stroll through this peaceful jardin....what vision Albert Kahn had!
See what I mean....artistic, elegant and inspirational....the most perfect green spots to escape to. You can really understand why so many of those impressionist painters chose these spaces to paint.

There'll be more to come on some of my other favourites....Jardin des Plantes and the Palais Royal in my next post.  They're really lovely too!

A bientôt.

  2. Jardins Albert-Kahn looks like my cup of tea. The Buxux bubblea are beautiful although those clipped Yew topiaries in Rodin's Garden are pretty impressive too.

  5. What a delight to discover a new garden through your beautiful photos. I had to "map" it and have just added it to my list for the next visit. I have never seen a Paris garden that I did not love, and I look forward to your next post for more...

Have you wandered through the "theme" gardens at Parc Bercy? It is worth the Métro ride which will land you at either end of this large park.
