Absolutely, Robyn! If you snapped these marvelous pictures then I applaud you for having a great eye for the beauty in ordinary things and the ability to compose shots for optimum viewing pleasure. My father was an avid photographer and shared this philosophy. Some of his favorite subjects were close-ups of tree bark, leaf patterns, fungus, wild mushrooms, insects, rock formations, stones polished smooth by the cascading water of a mountain stream and weather beaten barns and sheds.
I love this assortment of pictures featuring a rainbow of brilliant colors, various textures and compositions enhanced by prominent shadows.
Dear Robyn, I am in the midst of moving to another city. This coming Monday I will publish my last post of the month and then take a break from blogging to focus on that task. I hope to return the first week of April. Take good care of yourself, dear friend, until we meet again!
Yep, I'm the snapper Shady. Always like to capture textures and 'the ordinary beauty'. I'm sure I would have loved your father's photographs....his subject matter is my subject matter too.
All the best with your move Shady....that's a big one moving to another city!! And I know how busy you'll be...so good luck and enjoy the process. What an adventure you and Mrs Shady are about to have. Enjoy!
Darling Peggy….how are you? I'm so pleased that you like that picture…..it's the Boab Tree or sometimes it's referred to as the Bottle Tree for obvious reasons. When I was a child I called it the "Milk Bottle" Tree!!!! Very, very old……must be close to 100 years…..and a number of them adorn our Anzac Square, a very special place of Remembrance in the centre of Brisbane.
Ah yes so do I....these little rocks (and others) travelled with me from my old home to my new home. Some things you just can't leave behind can you! I love feeling and looking at the texture of things....and trying to create all kinds of textures in drawings, prints and collages. I suspect you also love textures! Happy and creative 'layering'!
Nothing is “ordinaire” when we really look at it. Even a drop of water on a glass can be a work of art. I like your selection of photos which prove this theory.
Thank you so much dear Vagabonde...and I couldn't agree more. Exquisite and dazzling beauty is everywhere....we just have to notice it! I really like your example though.....could make a very good photographic challenge/opportunity!
Fantastic post Robyn.....beautiful photographs...and you have captured the essence of 'Ordinary Beauty'....it's true that we are surrounded by beauty....'we just have to take some time to 'smell the roses' & be dazzled....Thanks for reminding me.....Jude

It is a very Zen quality to find the beauty in ordinary objects or in nature... I especially love the rock images...
