Well, I have to be truthful...I'm not really a huge fan of the Galleries Lafayette department store...far too many designer bags, shoes, and tourists for moi. But I'd heard it had a wonderful rooftop terrace cafe that offered brilliant views of Paris. And it was very close to home...only about a 15 minute walk.
So Pierre and I set off late one Saturday morning....we thought we'd have lunch on the terrace and admire the rooftops of Paris at the same time. We'd just dart through all that frenzied shopping and go straight to the terrace. What a great idea....lunch at 'the local'.
A quick dash down Rue de Chateaudun and we were soon ensconced in the terrace cafe. |
We had a fabulous view sitting just near the jasmine and rosemary.... not a bad local cafe is it? |
Rosé and tarte citron....fab combination....and not a problem as the walk back home would neutralize the calories! Well, sort of. |
The rooftops of Paris....trés impressive non? |
The back of the fabulous Opera Garnier. |
Sacré Coeur, Montmartre in the distance...views up, down and all around. |
After lunch and the views, it was back through the store.... the interior is beautiful.... I'm just not keen on all that frenzied shopping! |
And just a hop, skip and a jump down Rue de La Chaussée d'Antin........and we were home. |
Yes...I think there'll be a few more trips back to 'the local'...le tarte citron and views were fantastique!
A bientot.

ReplyDeleteOh yes! Absolutely our kind of place for lunch. The views are terrific and the 'tarte au citom' looked truly delicious. And, all just a few minutes from home, this is all perfect. We might well be tempted to move in!!!
I must admit Jane and Lance...it's a very nice spot here in the 9th.
