Mes Collages et Les Passages III

Always a hive of activity, le Passage des Panoramas is the specialist place in Paris for cartes postales, lettres anciens and stamp dealers....it's philately central.

But that's not all you'll see here...when I visited the other Saturday morning for a drawing workshop, there was a fashion shoot happening with pouting, posing et al, French actors, dressed in costumes å la George Sands and Chopin, were presenting a 'trés bon spectacle' right in the middle of the arcade (they had the most gorgeous projection and their audience was captivated), and locals and tourists were enjoying the buzz of the place.   It was brimming with Parisian atmosphere!  It's also a good passage to visit because just across the road are Passages Verdeau and Jouffroy....with lots to offer too.

If you like old papery things like moi...these passages are intriguing...parfait for hunting and gathering for mes collages!
Yes, I did manage to do one or two!! and once I started....I'd just get lost in the process.  Pierre would often complain that once the glue and paper came out....that'd be the end of me for the day!

Anyway, a selection of my Parisian collages is at the end of this post.

But first les passages...
The passages are filled with a variety of interesting boutiques....print and photograph galleries, bric-a-brac shops, second-hand bookshops, even a little boutique selling antique walking sticks....nice!
As I said...Le Passage des Panoramas is philately central!
The intriguing Tombées du Camion...always good for a fossick!
The little Hotel Chopin..but aren't those pantalon rouge fab.  Robin....I'm trying to convince
Pierre that he needs a pair...but, malheureusement, he's not convinced!
The Waxworks are there too.

And here are just 'some' of my Parisian collages....created with treasure from le Passage des Panoramas.

  1. I love them all!!! Your collages are fabulous! I cannot wait to see more!

May I ask, in this passage one can purchase old post cards, stamps and letters? I would love to get a few while I am there for a project.

Your beautiful images and collages put a huge smile on my face on this dreary day, thank you!

    1. Merci beaucoup Elizabeth...what a lovely comment...and yes you can purchase vintage post cards, stamps and vintage letters in Passage des Panoramas....there are many, many shops selling this. Some of the lettres ancien that I used in my collages were dated from the 1830's...quite extraordinary to be able to access such unique resources n'est-ce pas?

  2. What a pity I didn't know about these Passages and I was so close several times.
Have you tried to frame and mount your fabulous collages in clusters?
I'd like to think of any creative obsession as a gift.
I'm new to your blog and even not knowing Pierre can tell that my husband thinks the same when I'm making jewelry.
Check it out Robyn at http://www.etsy.com/shop/InHappyMode
These obsessions are so meaningful even if only for us.
    Happy collaging to you!
