Les Passages II

The minute you walk into Galerie Vero-Dodat you know it's special....with its beautiful painted ceiling, black and white floor tiles and exclusive shops.

Originally, Galerie Vero-Dodat was le passage that connected Paris' markets (Les Halles) with the Palais Royal.  It must have been gorgeous in its heyday....gorgeously lit by bulbous lamps....an exclusive haven for those who could afford it.

Today, Galerie Vero-Dodat is a little dilapidated, with peeling paint on many of the shop fronts....but it's still very interesting, atmospheric and trés elegant.

It's close to the Banque de France and Bourse quartier (ie the financial district of Paris)....and is home to antique, contemporary art, gorgeous furniture, music shops....and Christian Louboutin. It's serious window shopping territory....enjoy!
Outside Louboutin....which is at one of the entrances to Galerie Vero-Dodat.
Beautifully painted ceiling panels
A little dilapidated....but still very beautiful.
Le passage is trés chic....brass panelled shop fronts, rusted pillars,
speckled mirrors and bulbous lamps.
I don't believe this shoe!
Maybe you just look at it....'cos I certainly couldn't walk in it.
Ooohh la la la la!  Good ol' leopard...never goes out of fashion, does it?
This is the quaint bootmaker inside le passage.....and should you require
your Louboutins to be resoled....they'll do them....red soles naturellement!
An early morning delivery of blue velvet....so Parisian n'est-ce pas?
I love these passages and can't wait to explore the others.

Next week, however, we're off to Seville for a few days in search of the sun!  A bientot.

    1. Oh yes...modern shopping centres are generally devoid of atmosphere. It's like stepping back into another century when you visit les passages.

  2. Tres chic Robyn. The only way to shop. What an amazing blue velvet chair & could be tempted to try on the shoes just for the experience.

    Enjoy Seville. Jude
